National Council for Vocational Training
The National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) is a counseling body that was instituted by the Government of India during the year 1956. The council is responsible for devising the syllabus for the craftsmen training, framing the policies, carrying out the All India Trade Tests, and conferring the National Trade Certiﬁcates to the successful candidates. With the NCVT’s headquarters in New Delhi, the main objective of the council is to function as a central agency and counsel the Government of India on formulating the training policies and conducting vocational training throughout India.

‘Vocational Examination Council’ was established through Government Order No. 879/36-9-125(बी)/87, Dated 30 March, 1988 for smooth functioning and to maintain transparency of selection work for admission of candidates in Government Industrial Training Institute. Registration of Council is done under Society Act. The oﬃcial name of “Vocational Examination Council” was changed to “State Council for Vocational Training” through G.O. No. 1090/89 – ा0 िश0 एवं कौ0 िव0 िव0 – 2014-99(एम) / 2009, dated 08 July 2014.
Major works of the council are to select candidates for admission in Government and Private Industrial Training Institute of State and to organise examination of National Vocational/National Apprenticeship Council, Government of India for candidates of Government and Private Institutes after training.
